The third edition of “Regina Ribelle – Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest” was a big success
From 15 to 18 May, San Gimignano hosted the third edition of “Regina Ribelle – Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest”, an event capable of combining culture, food & wine, and entertainment, and involving the entire territory. Four days brimming with events for the public and the trade press, including tastings, masterclasses, food & wine pairing workshops, and plenty of entertainment.
Taking stock: growing numbers and participation
The presence of about 1600 wine lovers in the Wine Fest days open to the public (17 and 18 May) accounted for over 10,000 tastings of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the exquisite Tuscan white wine. The event saw the participation of 35 local wineries, with a steadily increasing turnout compared to previous editions.
The presence of the Food & Wine press was also quite significant: over 80 journalists from Italy, Europe, the United States and Canada took part in the Press Days on 15 and 16 May. The guided San Gimignano Doc tasting led by Marco Sabellico was sold out and offered a golden opportunity to enhance the understanding of the terroir.
The Wine Fest experience: between tradition and innovation
Working in synergy with the Consortia of typical Tuscan products made it possible to enrich the event with food & wine pairing workshops, combining the excellence of local gourmet products with San Gimignano wines. Participants had the opportunity to discover the versatility of Vernaccia through innovative pairings, like those served at the six-hands dinner starring bakery chefs Massimo Giovannini, Giovanni Santarpia and Tommaso Vatti.
There was no lack of music, with the DJ set at Rocca di Montestaffoli that livened up the evenings, not to mention the special drinks by “Il Gingegnere”. The event succeeded in combining insights and entertainment, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.
The Gala Dinner: an unforgettable experience
The highlight of the Press Days was the gala dinner, held for the first time in San Gimignano’s spectacular Piazza del Duomo. Thanks to the impeccable organisation of Chef Gaetano Trovato (two Michelin stars, Arnolfo), the evening offered an exclusive gastronomic experience in a dream location to 150 guests, including the press, authorities and producers.
Awards and culture: an event that celebrates excellence
This third edition also hosted the 2025 Best AIS Sommelier in Tuscany Award, emphasising the importance of the event as a meeting point for sector professionals. Luca Marchiani triumphed as the 2025 award winner. Moments of art and culture added lustre to the festival, with an exclusive visit to Galleria Continua and the presentation of Andrea Roggi’s sculpture dedicated to Vernaccia.
Collaborations with an eye to the future
The 2025 edition saw the collaboration with influencer Wiki.Pedro, whose two promotional videos reached an audience of over 200,000 followers.
Organised by the Consorzio del Vino Vernaccia di San Gimignano and the Municipality of San Gimignano, with the support of numerous local partners and high-level sponsors, the festival has once again affirmed its central role on the national and international stage.
