The Kingdom of the only Queen of Tuscan white wines in a land of red kings: Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG.
The Queen of Tuscan white wines.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG
Vernaccia di San Gimignano is an ancient, autochthonous Tuscan vine of excellence from which the homonymous “white” is obtained, an unrivaled wine. An extraordinarily ancient wine, mentioned by Dante Alighieri in canto XIV of Purgatory, in the Divine Comedy. The Queen of Tuscan white wines, with great structure, which shows its rebellious character especially in the organoleptic characteristics which differ from the standard of the usual white wines. The strong scent, with ample floral and fruity notes and the strong sapidity distinguish this unique wine, with an intense, ample and elegant straw yellow color. A product that, thanks to both viticultural and enological research by skilled San Gimignano winemakers, has been able to renew itself by enhancing its uniqueness and thus obtaining a modern wine with a strong identity and character. Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the first Italian wine to obtain the Controlled Denomination of Origin in 1966, can only be produced with white berried grapes grown exclusively in the territory of the municipality of San Gimignano.

San Gimignano, a city without comparison
San Gimignano is something unique. There is nothing in the world like San Gimignano. Italianness “in purity”, we could say. It has become a Unesco World Heritage Site for its uniqueness and historical richness, it is one of the most visited places in Tuscany, in Italy, in the world. A territory where art and history meet quality wine production and gastronomy.. Wherever you arrive from, San Gimignano stands out and is immediately recognized with its incredible towers; today 13 towers remain of the 72 towers from the 14th century. And then the medieval churches and plazas, the alleys and the glimpses, with a view towards the Tuscan hills dotted with vines. A place that should be visited at least once in a lifetime. What better occasion to discover this wonderful territory than during the first edition of the Rebel Queen – Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest?
