Andrea Roggi:
a journey through art and culture
The artist has decided to collaborate with the Consortium for Regina Ribelle 2025 to show his commitment to promoting and protecting local culture.
Some of his works will be on display in the squares hosting the Regina Ribelle event on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May.

“In no interview have I ever denied my roots: a rural, farming life, its pace dictated by the sun and the moon, the festive chiming of bells, the changing of the seasons, the harvesting of grapes and other crops. A life made up of togetherness, strong and genuine bonds, sincere friendships and valuable people who support me. We share the hard work, the direct exchanges and the immense joy of seeing an artwork take shape after months or even years, revealing its character, its name and its energy.
I opened a gallery in San Gimignano years ago and, together with my other gallery in Pietrasanta, it has become a kind of refuge, a place where I can retreat for a few hours or a few days, to reconnect with that world that has always inspired me and continues to guide my artistic journey and the message I want to convey to the world.
My concept of the “energy of life” intensifies and grows stronger in this space, allowing me to regain a deep sense of inner balance.
The phone call I received from the Consorzio della Vernaccia di San Gimignano filled me with emotion and gratitude. It was a tangible sign of my bond with this extraordinary land, with its culture and the beauty it radiates to anyone lucky enough to experience, protect and promote it. This gift is also extended to the many tourists who, even if they’re here only very briefly, are captivated by the architecture, the landscape, the authentic flavours and the artistic creations of the amazing craftsmen and artists who have made their mark over the centuries, supported by the patronage of the past.
That simple phone call sparked the desire to give back at least a little of the love I have received from the inhabitants of this ancestral village, so full of history and wonder. The Consortium offered me the opportunity to exhibit my work, and this makes me extremely proud.
Every day I admire the dedication and sacrifice of those who carry on the tradition of Vernaccia, a wine I really love – fruity, floral, complex but harmonious, elegant and captivating. Just like the walls of this town and its territory which, despite the harsh winters, yields a generous nectar, packed with aromas and flavours that evoke a strong family bond with its production. Small estates which unite under a single symbol to face their daily challenges together, each maintaining its own unique characteristics.
Preparations are already underway. The town is coming together for its “Regina Ribelle 2025” festival, an event in which the vision of producing a white wine in a land of reds reaches out to the markets in an exceptional two-day celebration of togetherness and hospitality. The deadlines are approaching fast, and I am honoured to be asked to exhibit in this wonderful context.
I would really like to thank all the people who believe in my art, in traditions and in a sense of belonging. Those who work with passion and absolute dedication to preserve this extraordinary territory, appreciated all over the world.
Now, my great admiration turns into participation: it is through my Art that I wish to give back what I have learnt from you.”
